Kundan setting is one of the oldest forms of jewellery making in India, dating back to the Mughal era. At Nemichand Bamalwa, this art form lives and breathes through the hands of master craftsmen who have dedicated their lives to its preservation.
The process begins with a base of lac — a natural resin that is heated and shaped to form the foundation. Into this, refined gold foils are carefully pressed, creating beds for uncut diamonds and precious stones.
What distinguishes our kundan work is the precision of the gold foil work. Each strip is cut, shaped, and pressed by hand — there are no shortcuts, no machines that can replicate the sensitivity of an experienced artisan's touch.
“The process begins with a base of lac — a natural resin that is heated and shaped to form the foundation.”
The result is jewellery that carries within it the warmth of human hands, the patience of hours, and the legacy of a technique that has adorned royalty for centuries.
